I fucking hate how corporations try to force cloud storage down your throat that you don't want and never asked for. It was a huge surprise for me to find out that when I put stuff in the documents folder on a new Windows machine, it actually gets uploaded to the cloud without my permisson. Huge violation.
Same thing with apple. When I had the misfortune of using an iPhone it kept annoying me with messages saying that my 'iCloud is full' when I never signef up to the iCloud or authorized my files to be uploaded there.
Plus the stuff you descrive is ten times worse. Not only did it upload your data without your comsent, it now, potentially, resulted in daya loss. That's some crazy shit you could probably sue for.
How sure are you that it's all lost, though? Did you try turning it back on? Whatever data you had on there may still be there.
