just ordered my first lawn mower !
i am officially a Boomer now !

the problem is it doesn't come with batteries ( or charger ) and i can't afford the genuine batteries for it ( it can take up to two $600 batteries ).
my plan is to get the genuine charger ( which is sensibly priced ) but go for aftermarket batteries which are 1/3 the price.
before ordering the mower i had to come up with some strategy to mitigate the risk of using Turd-Party batteries and the plan i came up with is that i will charge them outside. meaning in the back yard or the driveway - NOT in the garage ! according to my research batteries usually catch fire while charging, sometimes while in use and rarely in storage.
if i charge outside and it catches on fire i only lose battery and charger - no biggie.
if it catches on fire while in use i lose battery and mower - slightly worse outcome, but still no biggie.
if it catches on fire while in storage i lose the house but that is a low probability if you partially discharge the battery before storage and store it at a cool temperature. at least in theory ...
according to my research gas mower would have been a better option but i would have to learn how to maintain it ( change oil, inspect spark plugs, change belts etc. ) and that kind of shit doesn't really appeal to me ...
i am a Jew after all and as you know Jews don't do manual labor - we are too important for that !
