It definitely has its problems. Although you can do some steps to overcome this.
If the payment does not go through, it might be that the recepient you want to send to:
- Has no channels to you
- The channels have not enough liquidity
- The route is too long, so it is above your set maximum cost
An easy mitigation is to have more wallets lying around that you can use. Or try multiple wallets, and use the one that has the least problems over time.
Have your own node, so you control who you have channels with. (Requires locked in bitcoin for low return)
