i literally just posted something this morning about how the problem of modern society is not enough good shepherds
this little town proves it by the fact they spent a lot of energy on teaching everyone in the town how to prevent these criminal minded people from gaining power
and it also demonstrates how this is a grass roots thing, you start small, you replicate the models that teach you how to shun evil people and they just don't hang around, they can feel the glare of every wrong they do to anyone in the place as the gossip about it spreads
very nice story, i hope we see more of this in the future
i see lots of cultural memes that counter a lot of this around me here in northern madeira, crime is virtually nonexistent around here, and in the balkans i saw a lot of customs that made it more difficult, and like the story of this little town, it came out of an experience of being taken over and brutalised on a large scale... the people of the balkans suffered under the Turks until the 19th century when the tide started to turn and then came communism, which was able to take hold but just built up more defensive mechanisms against it
anyway, yay for bitcoin berlin... this is an example to follow
