The U.S. Dollar Game – How It Really Works
• Europe was wrecked by war.
The U.S. stepped in to rebuild—with cash and resources.
• Bretton Woods locked in the dollar as the world’s reserve currency.
Global trade now needed dollars.
• The trade loop was born.
Other nations shipped us their goods. We sent back paper—dollars.
• But dollars don’t appear out of thin air.
The U.S. creates dollars by issuing bonds—IOUs backed by future tax revenue.
• Foreign nations take the dollars we paid them… and buy our debt.
They hand the money right back to us—by purchasing U.S. bonds.
💸 Therefore:
The U.S. issues debt to import the world’s goods, then sells that same debt back to those countries as an “investment.”
