You can extend your perception to interact with your environment much farther than is classically accepted.
Just as an excavator operator can feel the end of the excavator bucket, a race car driver can feel the car tires, or an ice skater can feel the steel cutting into the ice, you can perceive similar stimuli in extension of with we consider the physical confines of your neural network.
The discrepancy to explain this classically vs. holistically is that in the classical sense you are simply mechanically extended to feel the vibrations coming through the medium which you are touching, in a holistic sense you are one with what classically would be seen as the medium; it is part of you.
There is no proof for either, so we can't claim to know how this works exactly, but the holistic approach is a framework that has greater potential understanding and experimenting.
