It’s just occurred to me that the last two decades of “cold fresh realism” (on all fronts, including type design) was really probably a metaphor for (or symptom of) neoliberalism in its full-throated stage with ahistoricity at its soup base. I mean look at these images that attempt to say something to their own times and pasts (Akiyoshi Terashima 1985)
