UI / UX.
How we interface drives everything.
Eg 1
Before cable TV, the user had to physically turn a knob to the signal (channel) they wanted. Cable would never have scaled under this method. Solution: the remote - simple UI / UX = 10000+ channels.
Eg 2
Digital payment adoption. A plastic card that inserted into a device which had a familiar UI. The number pad looked like a phone dialer, press 4 - 6 digits, payment made.
Eg 3
Swiping a screen - iPhone changed everything. A baby knows how to swipe. Intuitive UI / UX.

This is the challenge for Nostr apps. It's why Bitcoin ETFs broke the cardinal rule "not your keys". Users are creatures of habit. In order to scale anything, it must be braindead simple.
I love Nostr, I think Amythst is an awesome client but I can't onboard grandma to this tech the way I could teach her the remote, the bank card and how to use the phone to take a picture.

Is self custody the hurdle that drives most toward centralized services? Solve the custody "lift" keeping key pairs and seed phrases safe and without the brain damage and the world will beat a path to the door.
