⚡️🚨🇪🇺 ALERT - EU to monitor crypto transfers and "record data on senders and recipients of funds".
Speaking at the European Summit on Combating Financial Crime 2025, Paschal Donohoe, President of the Eurogroup and also Irish Minister for Finance, explained how the EU is working to apply AML regulation to crypto.
Specifically, the EU plans to "record data on senders and receivers of funds" to and from crypto-asset service providers.
According to him, this should enable "transparency of crypto asset transfers".
Main content:
- Require crypto platforms to record sender and recipient information.
- Prohibit crypto-currency companies from dealing with anonymous wallets
- Additional powers for the European Anti-Money Laundering Authority (AMLA)
- Block decentralized exchange (DEX) IPs that do not comply with regulations
This new regulation will officially come into force from July 1, 2027, and will apply to all digital asset service providers in the EU region.
