An 8-year-old autistic child was dragged by the arm by staff from a specialized clinic, on Wednesday afternoon, in the Setor de Indústria e Abastecimento (SIA), in Brasília. According to witnesses, during an appointment, the boy escaped from the location and managed to cross busy lanes in front of the clinic. When found, he was forcibly taken back to the clinic by the staff, who dragged him by the arm into the building. Two women, a psychologist and a physiotherapist, both employees of the clinic, were taken to the 5th Police Station in Asa Norte. According to the Civil Police, the two paid a R$ 3,000 bail each and were released. The child's mother, Heloísa Cervo, said her son, diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) at the age of 3, has been receiving treatment at the unit for over two years. She claims to have learned about the incident through a friend and was outraged by the situation. The case is being investigated by the Brasília Civil Police, which will investigate the circumstances and evaluate whether there was abuse.
