Ashoka the Great (304 BCE – 232 BCE) has a famous saying (read on). I find it interesting that you could replace the word "religion" with "country" and the message still holds true. Because a country is still a virtually assigned set of beliefs to a piece of physical land.
Ashoka, who governed land with people believing in many gods, once said, "Whoever praises his own religion, due to excessive devotion, and condemns others with the thought "Let me glorify my own religion," only harms his own religion. Therefore contact (between religions) is good. One should listen to and respect the doctrines professed by others".
Remove political wars and you have one world trying to share our differences, not unite them nor replace them, but live side by side with them. Only a few do not want this, and some try to hijack a whole country to believe differently. It only works when the masses follow their message.
