A memory from when I taught high school Swedish. In order to teach a little 16th century Swedish, I had some students modernise the Nativity story from the Gospel of St. Luke. Because it's a well-known passage and that Bible translation was super influential on modern standard Swedish.
One of the Muslim students, though, didn't want to read any of the resulting text out loud. Because he was the only person in the room who took the Bible seriously as religious writing!
