Some of the things I will write about here are mentioned in the videotaped interview in part one. But not all of them.
My uncle’s father, also my mother’s father, worked as a salesman for the Revere company. I think he sold cookware. My uncle was, of course, sworn to secrecy about his work. He told of visiting his parents for dinner, sometime after he began working on the Manhattan Project. His father asked him what kind of work he was doing and my uncle replied that he could not talk about it. His father then said something like, “I think you are working on a bomb using the atom.” My uncle said he was surprised and laughed it off. He later concluded that his father formed his hypothesis from what he read in newspaper stories.
