One does not become enlightened by imagining figures of light, but by making the darkness conscious. The latter procedure, however, is disagreeable and therefore not very popular.
It is formerly the privilege of all the masters and heroes, as well as the gift of all those who have struggled to make their darkness conscious, to become the instrument of the creativity that shapes the world.
The most exhausting and trying part of this work is to constantly carry the burden of the chaos that one has unleashed, but one must also be aware of the fact that this chaos is the source of new creation and new life.
The greatest enemy of an individual who tries to make their darkness conscious is the shadow, which is the repressed, undesirable, and often hidden part of their personality. The shadow contains the darkest aspects of the self, and it is the source of the feelings of guilt, shame, and self-doubt that an individual may experience.
To confront the shadow is to confront the darkest aspects of the self, and this can be a painful and difficult process. However, it is also a necessary step towards achieving wholeness and integration, and towards becoming the person one is meant to be.
The process of making the darkness conscious is not a one-time event, but rather a continuous process that requires effort, courage, and perseverance. It is a journey into the unknown, and it can be fraught with danger and uncertainty.
But for those who are willing to take the risk, the reward is well worth the effort. For when one makes their darkness conscious, they become more whole, more balanced, and more at peace with themselves and the world. They are able to tap into the creative potential that lies within them, and they are able to live a more authentic and meaningful life.
