Clonezilla has offered this as an option for some time, >>HOWEVER<<, the specific ways in which Clonezilla accomplishes this, doesn’t allow the “disk images” that it creates to be readily used by any other software or platforms.
(As I discovered after using that software on a vintage 386 to backup a collection of IDE HDDs in March 2020.)
So, I’d recommend having a look at how Clonezilla has historically approached things, for the express purpose of seeing how NOT to do it.
