My country's, your country's, and most other people's countries' housing crises could be solved by simply not attacking people who try to build what they think is needed in their area. Even the most coveted regions have giant swathes of land neither being built on, nor used agriculturally, nor covered in forest, nor really populated by anything when it could be someone's garden for his children to play in, creating new local communities instead of enlarging existing towns and cities until they become metropolitan hellscapes where everyone tries to get away from people rather than engage them and build something with them.
