Jesus somehow returns to the "gift of the Gods" believed by the Greeks, which was "blind faith". Today we call it the over-riding instincts of self-preservation and re-creation, and we say "you are never too old to live another day or find love".
Jesus Christ WAS a man, a human, mortal. God will not separate true faith and devotion based on anything else, diamond in the rocks or in the swamp and shit is still a diamond, everyone knows that.
God has the capacity to preserve that soul, to bring that soul home.
