Hosting, yes, but local development often requires simulating parts of your hosting environment locally. For example, I have a locally running Docker container which serves strfry relay so I have full control over my local test relay. My apps are Dockerized, as well, so I’ll have several running simultaneously.
If you’re not using Docker (or don’t need it), there’s other ways to serve your website clients locally to develop against, but you may run into some performance bottlenecks, depending on your needs. Chromebooks crash after a few simple browser tabs are open, in my experience.
Impossible to tell what machine you’ll need without deeper information, but as a web dev makin’ Nostr and non-Nostr stuff, there’s no way I could make a Chromebook work for my dev flow.
But, only way to tell is to try! Are you just starting web dev, nostr:nprofile1qqs94uregcr2zk6kg8394g3aqjh5evxh6hngkyw2edr726jxnr7233qpremhxue69uhkummnw3ez6ur4vgh8wetvd3hhyer9wghxuet59uq32amnwvaz7tmjv4kxz7fwv3sk6atn9e5k7tcy7dvxx ?
