Pahomie of Gledin, a 14th-century Romanian monk, retreated into the wilderness seeking deeper communion with God. He lived as a hermit in the Neamț Monastery region. Villagers discovered him after noticing a light emanating from his cave. They sought his spiritual guidance, and against his initial wishes, he was consecrated Bishop of Roman. He led his flock with wisdom and compassion during a time of hardship and conflict.
Lord, inspire today's bishops to lead by Pahomie’s example of humility and devotion.
