It's two religious factions arguing about why the other should go away. So the intro was pretty much on point.
Speed only barely matters on modern computers. Yes you can make stupidly slow code, but that's if you suck, and don't notice how your code is dragging everything down. (Sorry, did Oracle just call?)

It is a confusing article, because I think its conclusion is way up where the paragraph starts with "What I want by coming from small ..." but I really can't tell.
