You know who's going to deal with those costs? The poor and middle class. Those who have the least will be deprived the most. It's easy to wave off the consequences if you're in a position to not care about them, but there are hundreds of millions of people who will suffer. Depending on which services are gutted, many of them will die, or subject abject poverty and need, all while the the wealthiest sit back and watch without a shred of empathy or concern. I can't so easily wave off the consequences, not because I'm going to be at risk, but because so many innocent people will be.
