Work at the shop has been gradually increasing after a pretty rough, slow year. Back into the high frequency/turnover program/set-up/production to get orders out. Everything is time. Break down time. Tooling time. Set up time. Cycle time.
Cycle time is the bitch. "It needs to get done faster" doesn't work with time needed to complete something. I do everything as fast as I can, as efficiently as possible to get the job running. Once spindle speeds, feedeates and material collide. It's out of my hands.
I'll make parts perfect to spec, but once a part with a 30 minute cycle is running it is what it is. "I need fifty parts by 2:30 for anodizing and shipment" means nothing when the time to run the job, with only piss breaks in the run cycle, can't even satisfy the demand.
Sats are time.
I wish I knew what half of the stuff I made gets assembled into.
