Coming from Canada where our laws and regulators are regularly ignored by "big tech" because of the politics of the situation, I think it would play out very differently.
No politician in the UK wants to be the one responsible for banishing the iPhone from the UK. They would back down immediately.
Facebook flagrantly disobeys our privacy laws for the same reason. No prime minister wants to be the one who said you can't have Facebook, so nothing is ever done about it.
