sophistication and complexities are red flags of bad faith behaviour and people with narcissistic personalities
simple things tend to be the mark of the wise and humble
beginners, who lack wisdom, tend to overcomplicate things as well, because they haven't reached the point where they have a sufficiently complete model of what something should be, and they very often find they have to smash it up and start again
it's a subtle distinction between the errors of naivete and the errors of sophistry, but the proper judgement of either is the same - this is something that should not be trusted
