During a live cabinet meeting at the White House, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth announced that 11,000 U.S. troops are currently deployed to the southern border, working alongside Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to provide support with detention and assistance efforts.
He also highlighted several key defense initiatives, including DOGE-related programs, the expanding F-47 program, ongoing military operations targeting Houthi forces in Yemen, and continued support for the “Golden Dome” defense system.
