How did I end up defending Apple when I can't stand the company or its products?
Ideological consistency. Few practice it because it's hard.
I don't use their products. The alternatives I use are less polished and convenient. But at least I don't run to daddy government when I get exactly what I bought into. I am giving money to competitors that are at least trying to serve my needs and philosophy.
I bought a ThinkPad with GNU/Linux because it's better than buying Apple's bullshit every year and bitching about the latest abuse that is consistent with their entire philosophy and technology stack.
I don't get it, especially for people who claim to care about permissionless tech. The entire stack is philosophically opposed to permissionless, decentralized tech. They're actively working against you at all times.
Rejoice! For the permissionless have been given permission.
