The entire rationale for removing the op return limit is not only cowardly but contradictory and hypocritical on its face.
To have this fucking shill declare us screeching victims of cognitive dissonance for not meekly complying is such an affront I'm compelled to do a whole.
They say miners control everything and we can't stop them from putting whatever shit they want into the blockchain so there's nothing for it but to do damage limitation and at least give spammers a way to spam without bloating the UTXO set.
There are multiple layers of deliberate obfuscation in the framing of the argument coming from core so I'm just going to bullet point it;
1. the 5 or 6 actual miners have a completely unjustified level of access to blocks currently and just conceding that and building around it is a brain melting level of subservience and cowardice.
We can fix that. Datum fixes that. Core won't run the update to facilitate datum!
2. They are arguing against the efficacy of filters in order to remove a fliter that evidently works like a motherfucker. Works so well Jameson Lopp's whole "build ethereum on bitcoin" project can't work with it.
It costs a relative shitload to go direct to a malicious miner.
3. Contrary to cores arguments its actually really bad for the malicious miners and not for us when their blocks contain a bunch of garbage our nodes hadn't propagated. It slows down their own blocks propagating and raises the risk they'll be orphaned.
People really need to understand how doomed the miners(the handful of dominant FPPS mining pools) are and how much ocean and datum already represent writing on the wall and the end of their dangerous centralised control of the block space.
Without that background bogey man of malicious miners who have so much access to blocks they can reliably promise to mine transactions for spammers, all of core's masochistic arguments fall apart.
So they're desperately looking for a new way to guarantee spammers access to the blockchain and they've found it! Its your fucking mempool!
They want your mempool to spread its legs and propagate whatever the spammers want and they're actually calling it a W because it limits the bloat of the UTXO set. Knots was literally only established for that in the face of core letting spammers bloat it from 4 to 12GB!
This is hard to keep straight but I hope that outline helps. Protect nodes right to relay transactions according to their own sovereign policies and decentralise mining with datum. That's how we keep bitcoin small and simple. That's how we keep nodes easy to bootstrap.
Luke has been fighting that battle for years now in the face of core's apathy and subservience to shitcoiners. Core wont give node operators the simple choice to build their own mempool. This literally empowers the miners they claim we have no way to fight against.
We can and will defeat this. Ocean is a real mining pool for real miners who make their own block templates(with datum) drawn from their own mempools on the bitcoin network and all it does is split the block rewards.
If mining is actually decentralised so there's nowhere to go but the bitcoin network to get access to the miners and to block space then the only place spammers can go is your mempool. They desperately need you to relay their dogshit to miners because Mara is fucked long term.
Core are looking at bitcoin as a shitcoiner playground. They are looking at the decentralised network of nodes all independently deciding what to relay and building mempools differently as a problem. This is life or death rn for the spammers. We're winning.
