Martyr John, a merchant, was in Crimea when a Venetian merchant slandered him before the governor, a pagan. John refused to renounce Christ, enduring torture. He was dragged behind a horse until his body was reduced to pieces. After his death, a divine light shone upon his relics, which emitted a sweet fragrance and healed the sick.
