most farm kids learn to hunt early and rabbits is usually the first wild game. after dressing and skinning one, there'd be some detached feet
kids would play with them
you could hold the leg bone, pull a ligament, and the foot would move.
In the 1950s in Southwest Texas, variety stores and gas stations often SOLD actual rabbits feet key chains. Just the foot plus a metal cap (no ligaments, etc). Mostly made in Mexico. Many dyed bright colors.
