#PSA for those of you who have been (or will be) fired from the federal government or some other job: If you have kids in college whom you're paying tuition for, contact the financial aid office and ask if there is anything they can do to reduce your financial burden for the current semester due to your firing, and what you need to do to maximize financial aid for next semester.
Both of my kids' current colleges helped us out when I asked.
It doesn't hurt to ask.
