🇷🇴 George Simion Leads Romanian Presidential Race with Over 40%
Romanian presidential candidate George Simion is leading the race with over 40% of the vote, according to preliminary results with 81% of ballots counted. Simion, head of the “Alliance for the Union of Romanians,” is currently on track to win the first round.
In second place is pro-government candidate Crin Antonescu, with 21.29% of the vote.
Simion has called for ending aid to Ukraine and supports unification with Moldova. He has been declared persona non grata in both Kiev and Chisinau.
The second round of the Romanian Presidential Elections will see nationalist candidate George Simion vs. pro-Western independent candidate Nicușor Dan.
