Sometimes you just need to take a moment, pause, and change the scenery.
Tactical and I have been working hard to transform the homestead into a more integrated system. We have been repairing, changing, adding, subtracting, and building. Some things work great. Some choices make endless days of hard work with no break. We have darn near 100 hearts that depend on our success or failure here.
Last week, we snuck away for an overnight backpack trip. The hike in was only four miles, but it was surprisingly challenging. And the phones did not work at all. In an emergency, someone would have had to send a runner!!
That switch off was exactly what was needed. No notifications. No ability to just look something up real quick. No distractions. Just quiet (well not really quiet. It is a cicada year). Just peace. Just dark at night and light with the sun.
We have a big thing to do soon. And sometimes, as much as you love your life, it is good to press pause. Catch your breath. And change the scene.
