Compromises!
When my progressive friend complained there is no compromises in politics, I asked him what thing that progressives now have, would he be willing to give up to get something else progressives want.
The answer was a blank stare.
Often when people lament the lack of compromises, it does not reflect a desire to compromise, typically it reflects a desire to make the other party give them everything they want in exchange for nothing.
