being selfish has nothing to do with being yourself and taking good care of yourself and your loved ones.
maybe you are changing the meaning of selfishness. maybe you are not and still think it's the right thing to do. I don't believe taking care of myself or my family more than taking care of others is the way to truly benefit us. I think it keeps us apart and it is this feeling of being apart that causes incentives for hurting others.
I think it's normal to want to take care of myself and my loved ones as a priority, but the work I've been doing is to take care of them in a way that I take care of all at the same time. and taking care of others without leaving my loved ones behind.
