In 1714, Prince Constantin Brâncoveanu of Wallachia, along with his four sons and the treasurer Ianache, were arrested by the Ottoman Empire. Refusing to renounce his Christian faith for Islam, Constantin was forced to watch each of his sons beheaded before his eyes. The youngest, Matthew, was only 12. Finally, he himself was beheaded. Their steadfastness in the face of death, choosing Christ over earthly power, became a testament to their profound faith.
