Context is king. In what domain are you operating in? Best is also a subjective term that can change over time. What is the emergent behavior, and how should one make choices in that domain.
As far as aggression, this is tied to the act of ownership. You cannot signal ownership of anything in the physical domain without exerting watts to prove it. NAP is a futile strategy in the physical domain unless it's backed by some aggression principal.
So to combine strategies, draw a line and then execute tit for tat. The tit for tat could be a movement of the line itself.
If, what I am drawing a line in, is human nature, then I have only become a victim of it.
