广西文革期间杀了多少人
1983年1月我平反回桂林时，游行举的标语牌有两句口号：广西在文革中死难的六十万男女老少尸骨未寒！韦国清一身是血！我说的“六十万”，是民间传闻的数字，不准确。
这几个数字是权威的：
有人根据 区民政厅“死者家属补贴”和公安厅“非正常死亡”的统计评估为20万人；
1983年“处遗”后官方统计的有名有姓的被害者是8万9千多人；
中共中央顾问委员会副主任严佑民，1983年率整党巡视组来广西视察后说：“有人说广西杀了20万人，‘处遗’得出的数字是8万多，我走了21个县，认为取两方面的中间数15万比较真实。”
这些人，均死在支持韦国清的“广西联指”党政军民学成员刀下，他自然要负主要责任。
韦国清至少是历史上少有的“酷吏”，原桂林市市委副书记王同连说：“韦国清应该列入中国的《酷吏列传》里去，他的历史地位就在那里！”这已是历史的结论。
韦国清搞大屠杀手段十分狡猾，他从不个人直接指挥，而是用操纵、纵容、默许的方法，来达到他的目的。
如他当了区“革筹”小组长后，1968年3月5日，就用“区革筹”主要成员魏佑铸（广西军区政委）的嘴，说广西有“反共救国团”，6月17日，又操纵“区革筹”和广西军区，发布《关于破获反革命集团“中华民国反共救国团广西分团”反革命案件的公告》，“广西联指”总部立即发布《关于彻底摧毁蒋匪反革命集团“中华民国反共救国团广西分团”的总攻击令》，造成广西各地数以万计的“广西4·22”成员和无辜群众因此冤案被屠杀。
又如当他用谎报军情和栽赃的手段，弄得中央也说南宁反抗武装镇压的“4·22”是“土匪”，是“国民党”，要“围剿”，要“实行歼灭”时，他就以执行中央指示的名义，操纵广西军区直接指挥部队，攻打南宁展览馆和解放路，把“4·22”彻底消灭了。
再如1968年7、8月，是广西各地大屠杀的高潮，韦国清所控制的“区革筹”不下令禁止，至到9月，待“联指”把要杀的、能够杀得到的人，几乎都杀光了，才下令制止。这叫纵容。
