Reminds me of The Five Monkeys Experiment, where 5 monkeys are placed in a cage with a ladder to a bunch of bananas hanging from the ceiling. Every time a monkey tries to climb the ladder the entire group is sprayed with water. The group then tries to stop any future attempts to climb the ladder. The banana bunch is removed. Monkeys are removed one by one, after each new monkey tries to climb the ladder. Eventually all monkeys are new, none know about the water, but if any one tries to climb the ladder the group beats it into submission.
In the end none know why.
That’s how I feel with cultural norms such as this one. It serves to please and remain loyal to our ancestors who lived in farms and whose hats came dirty from the elements but that’s far from the case today. These people are not even with us today but live freely in our brains to tell us how and when we should wear hats.

It’d be nice if it recommended anonymous zapping for big amounts. It would remove the feeling of indebtedness of the receiver, and encourage altruism, the idea that generosity should be selfless.
Every option has its place though. But if I had a setting where zaps above X amount are automatically anonymous, it would streamline the process!

Use isopropyl alcohol to clean the board. Masking tape to cover chips, ports, pins & any heatsinks you can’t remove. Apply silicon coating from a spray can , go light a few passes. Test the tape to make sure it leaves no residue, you can get special tape for electronics but a good quality decorators masking tape works well and you’ll save a few sats. The removal of the corrosion is something we wouldn’t do in house, you can end up digging out quite a bit of board before filling it. Do you have a repair shop locally ?

These are the same reasons for me. 2 I would usually at least react to as an acknowledgment that I’ve seen it. 3 I would react to in some cases depending on if I felt it was a well intentioned comment rather than someone just trying to be argumentative (which I really haven’t experienced much).

yeah, the subject of training and conditioning is big in my mind at the moment
i am house training a cat that spent maybe 7 months wild with a few stolen meals here and there and someone obviously feeding him but no medicine or safe warm place... he knows it's a better deal but he's a little less plastic than a little one, the upside is he's also a lot less fighty
but it is definitely a form of parasitism that is the root of the problem and there isn't enough people actively working to break it
the whole reason i'm on nostr is because i could see that everything since facebook has worked to unravel natural human socialization to some nefarious end

i remember they were $3 when i lived there last in 2012
i pay less than this for eggs here in europe, typical in balkans was about 0.15 euro per egg, here it's more like 25-30 cents
but our taxes are also very high in other areas here, the VAT is higher than GST, for example
hell, i remember back circa 2007 reading that the effective tax rate there was like second highest in the world (worst was denmark or something) at 72%, i bet it's more like 90% now, it's completely nuts how much money goes to the government
literally 90% enslaved you are over there, here maybe 60%, and they have made us poor in europe by strangling industry

social creatures use language to adapt to living in harmony with each other, there is no social without communication, even swarming and schooling and flocking animals are all social and have coordination behaviour protocols
what this means is that in order to have a healthy human society, there has to be people who know how to program the minds of others, and use it to most importantly defend against those who do it to exploit and degrade others
like a shepherd, who protects the flock from the foxes and wolves and finds them the good pastures to feed on, and lets most of them live a long life and also usually neuters the males to prevent too much animal combat from taking place, which is also to the benefit of the animals
it doesn't matter whether the creature mows the lawn, carries people around or takes down vermin, it has to be trained to be effective, and the population control thing also
the problem we have as humans is that there is too many wolves and not enough shepherds
at some point this infestation will have to be put under permanent control
and Jesus is the one who will lead this pest control coming up soon

i spent a few months in bratislava and there was 7 bitcoin ATMs within half an hour walk of the old town, and yes i used them fairly extensively, the one in the big fancy shopping center to the south of the city... now i'm forgetting, was there trams there? maybe just now is electric overhead cable buses

i pay $1000/year for #xapo account... i think i prefer the sting in the start than in the end... the governments and the banking cartels leavy heavy, inflated monopoly prices on banks that dare to dabble in bitcoin, so it costs more, but i think thtis is always how it is at the beginning of a new industry, the new tech always is more expensive, but i think that before it was mostly just one rug after another (wirex, binance) but xapo has been legit for me the two years i've been subscribed to them

This is the framing we need. Nostr is not a company, but it is an ecosystem, and the ecosystem moves through the phases in a sort of clump. The success of one particular member of the clump will be short-lived, if they leave too many other members too far behind.
That's why we "waste" so much time on interop, specs, collaborations, forming and joining topic-excellence teams, etc.
We do not want to be the most elegant restaurant out in the middle of nowhere. We want to be the most elegant restaurant in a thriving downtown area, replete with other elegant restaurants, cute cafés, and that hip new, little taquería stand.
