You're absolutely right about needing skills to verify it properly. It's very technical. I was a network engineer in my career job, so the extreme technicalities did not scare me away from trying it.
I tried it, not knowing if I would succeed. I did finally succeed in getting it all set up, but I feel that it took way too long, the process was very difficult, and there is a steep learning curve on figuring out how to use GrapheneOS once you've got it installed.
You could lean on someone technical to set it all up for you, but me knowing how difficult it was, I know you can't lean on me personally to do it for you. I say that because even if I set it up for you, I would not be able to handle responding to any technical questions that surely would arise afterwards, I'm already feeling overwhelmed with everything else in my life that I'm behind on. The entire OS has many quirks which require more research, more time, more fiddling with, in order to get it working properly.
It's certainly not for everyone.
Not doing it yourself requires that you trust someone else to do it for you, or to have a Help Desk that can open tickets, answer questions, troubleshoot problems for you as they happen. This is why mega corps like Apple are good for many people, but as long as Apple does not open-source their code, I know I will not use Apple since I'm 100% open-source only from now on.
My only advice would to challenge yourself by buying a Pixel phone (7a or better) and consider it to be your boredom-ending tool. You'll never be bored ever again as long as you own one. If/when you ever feel a tiny bit of boredom, use that time to learn the next thing about what your GrapheneOS phone can do, or read any open Issues you see on their various repositories on github (https://github.com/orgs/GrapheneOS/repositories?type=all) and think about ways to tackle those problems or even propose solutions to them.

Exactly, you hit the nail on the head. Do you want to work your butt off (and I mean 18-hour days non stop!) or sit back and collect $2500/acre indefinitely. Plus if you have lots of empty unusable land it’s a far easier calculation. Work what you can and also gain extra income from the rest.
We do mixed vegetable production and poultry (layers) plus smaller quantities honey and maple syrup. Lots of specialty items and good wholesome business to upscale restaurants.
Our land is not ‘tillable’ either- we are on class 3 ‘poor’ soil that is low lying (wet) and almost pure clay. By using permanent no-till beds we have completely changed the makeup and productivity in just 4 seasons. We are heading into our 5th season now.

I actually did read some of it. But my comment was not about the article, which focused on how the people did not ask for the changes he is making and how that’s being disruptive.
The US Gov is fraught with fraud and pathetic at managing tax-payer money so bad that the US economy is at peril (and much of the world by distribute). It needs much more than a skin fade, so despite the fact people did not ask for it, it must be done.

When people complain about lack of merchant adoption this is what they forget! SPENDING sats is critically important, (more important than a business accepting sats) and not only creates a viable circular economy, but also cements bitcoin’s role as a viable medium of exchange. Customers paying in sats incentivizes businesses to actually stick with Bitcoin *and* eventually gets other businesses on board too. 👏

Reminds me of The Five Monkeys Experiment, where 5 monkeys are placed in a cage with a ladder to a bunch of bananas hanging from the ceiling. Every time a monkey tries to climb the ladder the entire group is sprayed with water. The group then tries to stop any future attempts to climb the ladder. The banana bunch is removed. Monkeys are removed one by one, after each new monkey tries to climb the ladder. Eventually all monkeys are new, none know about the water, but if any one tries to climb the ladder the group beats it into submission.
In the end none know why.
That’s how I feel with cultural norms such as this one. It serves to please and remain loyal to our ancestors who lived in farms and whose hats came dirty from the elements but that’s far from the case today. These people are not even with us today but live freely in our brains to tell us how and when we should wear hats.
