yeah, i'm very inclined to go with the real food
250g of shucked shellfish frozen is 2.2 eur and is good for a day, his usual food somewhere between 1.5 and 2.4 depending on which i get, but none of these foods have chewy bits in them, and actually, i think he would get more chew action if i gave him chunks of spit roasted beef, 200g of that for a day i bet he'd basically not be hungry most of the rest of the day
i'm gonna explore it... there is also cod fish there, which is also quite cheap
i am on an island, and there is a huge fishing industry here... i'm pretty sure that most of the time the lights i see out in the ocean are from fishing vessels mostly long lines... the ocean fool is very far down very quickly around here, so we have cod and other deep sea stuff right on our doorstep

Mochi the #catstr i decided i need to feed him chewy things and i thought, yeah, i think that shellfish are roodly chewy and will give his swollen gums a good massage
and the butter all over it probably also helps make it more appealing
i may have to just feed him actual food, i am super sketch on this commercial pet food, a few years back i figured out that they are probably lacing the "meat" and sauce saches with textured vegetable protein, because the cat wouldn't touch it
it's not really that much more expensive, probably i could feed him 2 days on the 3 euro shellfish pack, which means only double the cost with the benefit of stronger health and maybe he grows bigger than his daddy, because he ate superman food
i think it's a thing, gonna have to investigate
also, yesterday there was a fruit and fish truck guy rolled past my landlord's mother in law's house and i'd seen this guy around, it's a tradition on the island, it seems, most towns have at least one dude driving a truck around dealing out some kind of food product, in Sao Vicente it was the fresh fish man, who would announce all the time he is patrolling about teh wonderous fish he is mongering

followup: he's all shiny now after i gave him a good scrub with the fancy expensive cat shampoo
i'm sure that his morning "meal" may have had some impact negatively towards him healing from gingevitis, i think i actually really need to fead him some chewy meaty things... i got some more shellfish today, i am gonna put some aside for him to eat as an extra today
i'm also finding the shellfish good for me, improving my hair and ... well i'm pretty sure shellfish raise T levels
but yeah, i need to try and do something to harden up his gums, the best way to fix gingevitis in cats is to feed them stuff they really have to chew
plain old steak would do the trick perfectly, maybe today i have to see if i can get that 4-5kg picanha and bring it back and saw it up and get into doing some regular bbq again... i have a wood source now, the nice lady at the top of the caminho is the mother in law of my landlord... so i guess she's been sizing me up and i'm coming up pretty good, she also knows about the cat so he obviously is ok with the cat
i'm training the hell out of this cat tho, he's gonna be one of those cats that i teach him the command "FACERIP" and he will jump up in the direction i point at the nearest person and shred their face to loose all the tasty treats after a day's starvation (haha, only partly kidding)

i started to get some unpleasant effects from my heavy coffee drinking recently and i've basically just kinda turned off it somehow
i've walked about 6km today and done some shopping, cleaning, washed the cat, hung out some washing and put on another load, and there's a latte sitting just made in the coffee machine that i'm just not that excited about, but i feel like i have to drink one lol
