Confusion is a Tool of Control
Progress can be a double-edged sword: while the West has seen extraordinary leaps in technology and intellectual thought, powerful forces also work tirelessly to mold our perception of right and wrong. They weaken our sense of self-reliance and fracture the foundations of moral certainty; foundations that many believe are “written on men’s hearts” and traced back through time-tested ethics.
It’s not about vilifying any community; rather, it’s about recognizing how easily moral debates can be manipulated by those seeking to suppress productive individuals. When conflicting agendas sow confusion, we begin to doubt our own judgment. Even open dialogue becomes risky. We tiptoe around pressing issues, censor our questions, and in the end, allow our voice -- and influence -- to be muzzled.
Such disorientation benefits those who profit from a demoralized and fragmented society. Conflicted minds are easier to overtax, fearful of assembling around common goals, less trusting of their neighbor and community, and less likely to question top-heavy governance. Meanwhile, the productive shoulder the burden, unsure if they can speak openly, uncertain if their values hold any ground in the modern moral landscape.
But it’s not too late to remember the deep-rooted principles that once served as guideposts -- principles that offer clarity and a stable compass. Reaffirming these ethical anchors doesn’t mean condemning any individual or group, since we all have sinned; it means standing firm against confusion being weaponized. Only by keeping sight of enduring truths can we protect individual liberty, prevent exploitation, and secure the genuine progress we hope to pass on to the next generation.

I'm trying to figure out how this nostr:npub1jg552aulj07skd6e7y2hu0vl5g8nl5jvfw8jhn6jpjk0vjd0waksvl6n8n Jade works to set a noob up with one.
It works ok with Sparrow and USB but my goal is to configure them a mobile wallet where they can DCA easily while still using a passphrase and without using a cable.
The firmware upgrade took way too long due to a glitchy cable that always failed to push the firmware past the 10% to 15% mark.
The Android phone is a bit old, so the camera is almost impossible to get to focus on the screen of the Jade and trying it with my phone I noticed that a major issue is that the text next to the animated QR is way brighter than the QR. Covering it with a finger or better something flat helps a lot. It'd also help a lot if the text to the left wasn't 10 times brighter than the QR code.
The BT connection is super glitchy, too. Their FAQ suggests to "forget" the device if needed several times to see if it starts working when pairing again.

I'd like to see an upstream bug report cause it sounds like a bug in their control that they should fix instead of writing such an FAQ entry. Or for what it's worth, a link to their own respective bug report. Jade is open source after all.
I tried out nostr:npub1cvqlzvmjercdn0ypsmv8f7j9lge6ahsnueh5rparh53wuswftv4q49yjt3 for Android and there is no BT support but somehow I did register a key with it by scanning a QR code but I then could not figure out how that worked. On the freshly started Jade there is really not many options. Turns out I did unlock the device fighting with Sparrow and it was still in the unlocked state which allowed the QR export which is unintuitive when you haven't figured out yet that it might be unlocked or not and depending on that, behaves differently which led me to try to scan the only QR code I could get to: QR Mode -> QR PIN Unlock but Nunchuk behaves weird with that QR code: It counts up to 100% but then does nothing at all. It just keeps scanning. As Nunchuk explicitly supports the Jade, maybe it could do the same as https://jadefw.blockstream.com/pinqr/qrpin.html is doing to help a brother out? To my understanding at this point the "virtual" SE is queried for a KEK? Or if Nunchuk can not emulate that website, maybe it could tell the user what to do instead of just showing "100%" with a video stream.
So last questions for nostr:npub1jg552aulj07skd6e7y2hu0vl5g8nl5jvfw8jhn6jpjk0vjd0waksvl6n8n: Why can I not see the balance without typing in pin and passphrase on my present Jade? Why does Green keep asking for permission to share some key for Liquid? I really don't want no wrapped Bitcoins so it should just stop asking.

I kind of don't understand title 27's relevance as it covers intoxicants not tax. Either way my point being the difference between charity and taxation is the compulsion by force. Taxes are, by definition, compelled and therefore not voluntary. Regardless of law or the complicity of the individual.

Capital, especially if supply-capped, must at some point be deployed whether a person likes it or not; we can't live our lives without spending. And if anything, people hoarding appreciates the capital stock of 'smaller' individuals. It's a virtuous NGU cycle.
There's definitely a centralization risk when it comes to data storage, but tools are already being developed and exist to make self-hosting seamless and easy even for non-technical people. Local relays like Citrine on Android are also a great solution to this. The main hurdle to overcome imo is changing consumer behavior to a direction where users feel comfortable paying for these services and/or the associated hosting costs.

I honestly don't remember what brought me to Nostr. It was probably a podcast, but I couldn't tell you which one. I came in with no real appreciation for what this meant, but I enjoy tinkering with stuff, so learning kept me around to focus on something other than my undergrad. I stay because I learn something new about sovereignty, tech, Bitcoin, food, and many other topics constantly.
If a few of years ago someone would have told me I'd end up being a Bitcoin node and nostr relay running, home mining maxi who bathes using beef tallow as soap and lotion purchased with bitcoin over lightning, and eats multiple locally raised, grassfed steaks a day, I wouldn't have believed you. This community changed me.
