I wouldn't dream of asking a non-techie to use nostr, even if they were into bitcoin. Most likely, a normie bitcoiner is afraid of hodling off-exchange. The keys thing is too much to ask of normies, they can't even remember the name of their cat for their password. Asking them to keep track of an unrecoverable key is like trying to make your dog wear shoes. A very predictable outcome. This isn't a problem that will be resolved anytime soon so far as I know. For a techie bitcoiner, on the other hand, it's a more reasonable ask to store a key. This might be the real reason nostr has a lot of bitcoiners; key-handling skill is a filter.

I’m still failing to see how this wouldn’t be resolved with a nip-05.
If a user posts the nsec of the compromised account on the new secure account and the new secure account has an updated nip-05 pointing to the same URL as before.. Then nostr clients could be setup a feature to follow the new npub with the legitimate nip-05 and ignore the leaked account.
ie. If my nip-05 points to a new npub, and that new npub has posted the nsec of this old npub, autofollow the new npub and unfollow about the old one.
Even if someone with the private key of the compromised nsec attempts to update the nip-05 to a new one. The private key would be burnt to the new account and the client can verify the new npub with a new nip-05 lookup and burnt key combination.

i spent most of my 20s and 30s trying to blot myself out of this constant stark awareness but while maybe i could have done better and had more progress since then it also is just a case of "when it's time" i think
time is short, and unlike the usual meaning that people especially christians say it literally is short because natural disaster is almost inevitable in the next 30 years that is on a scale beyond anything in recorded history, at least as bad as the Great Flood stories (which exist in other cultures than semitic/european as well)

an egg lifter spatula thing that has a wood handle that is glued to the plastic instead of spending a few minutes to add a simple spring pressure tabs to the end of the plastic parts and gouging a small divot on each side so the thing just clicks in
household wiring for lights that uses maybe 0.5A capable multistrand shit-copper wire and the owner of this place didn't even consider this when buying a whole array of shitty LED light fittings that are designed to use solid core, 8A capable electrical wires
washing machines that barely last 5 years and develop short circuits that blow up the safety switch panel on the whole house and then not putting a separate switchboard panel in the apartment that they are renting out, and then bitching me out and basically refusing to pay me back my security deposit because their fucking place was so shit that i couldn't put normal fucking incandescent lightbulbs into the light fittings, because they are literally made out of plastic that isn't rated to handle more than about 40 degrees C without melting
and apparently, on that last point, it's now "law" in portugal, or maybe europe, that you can't sell normal light fittings that work with up to 100W lights for actual room lighting, for your safety, i'm sure
of course all of this is really just trying to find some way to deflect from the fact that the erosion of purchasing power continues to accelerate in decline and push that "responsibility" onto the people who aren't involved in running the fiat racket
and meainwhile also slathering EVERYTHING with the word "responsible" and nagging karen shit about recycling, which actually doesn't happen because recycling plastic is rubbish, and even the rubbish itself is toxic waste, and it's toxic waste even before it gets out of the factory let alone the "food" put in it and then we could start talking about the travesty that the food is becoming as well
so over it, i can barely go through a day without bumping into something that reminds me again what a shithole society the entire "first world" is becoming so quickly

Unless something has changed recently, it only uses the relays that you configure for writes. Reads are exclusively from the cache and therefore the cache can be manipulated in any way they want to. I verified this by blocking access to the cache IP with a firewall rule and the feed stops working.
I agree that switching cache servers is an option but at this point I’m not aware of any alternative independently run cache servers.
