yeah, the whole racket with roads and highways and cars has always troubled me
most especially the way they cut these paths through without any thought of pedestrians or human/animal powered transport
mules and horses are definitively more efficient than cars on highways in terms of total energy cost, for short runs
in europe some things have remained reasonable, like, many old town districts retain cobblestone paving, and it is definitely more durable and has an extra benefit of disincentivising fast traffic, because especially in winter it is a lot more slippery
plus in hot summer months it doesn't smell like tar

No locks. One solution is to portage it with a truck and trailer. You'd have to do that multiple times though. Or just have someone pick you up in Souix City.

ok! i could see there was many locks and whatnot and probably further uphill there must be rapids so some paths can't be navigated, but that's not bad eh? sailing that far inland is pretty sweet... i mean, of course it will be running on diesel for that part, this also is why i'm pondering how to deal with the problem that i mean to sail to the New Gulf of America and then diesel my way up the rivers... maybe i'll be better off to switch to a non-sail boat somewhere near the big rivers

The advantage is a much easier setup for the user, they don’t have to know anything about liquidity to make payments. Every transaction is swapped between Lightning and settles on Liquid in under a minute.
The user never has to do anything different except send and receive normally, but if they wanted to, they can see all their UTXOs and access their wallet with their seed phrase.
Wallets that do this now are Aqua and new ones built with Breez SDK, like Yopaki and a new Breez wallet I’ve been testing that is still in early release.
I like these approaches because they will help bring bitcoin to more people, faster and easier than expecting everyone to use the base chain or run their own nodes – both complete fantasies.

It depends on which ocean, you come in on. California to here is a little over 1600 km. Florida and New York close to 3057 km. I'd just take a bus, horses are expensive in other states. You'd be able to pick one up here for much cheaper. Unless you have land, boarding horses is expensive.
