i meant "feed it events from stdin" but anyway, idk why the server wasn't happy, i debuged what it was doing without auth from curl and i didn't spot anything about how to set the ContentLength or anything but maybe i will later fix this so it can pipe from stdin (ie, output of another program) but it's really not important now

#realy v1.8.2 just dropped
the main new feature is now the admin HTTP ports use nip-98 authentication instead of HTTP-Basic, and there is a new command in`cmd/curdl` that expects your prescrideb nsec in NOSTR_SECRET_KEY environment variable and it can do`get` for commands that return data (like export) and`post` lets you push up a`jsonl` file to dump a load of events into the database
took me a while to figure out how to get the upload working, some glitch with http and indefinite file sizes so i just discarded the ability to feed it events from localhost
there is ways to do indefinite sized uploads via http but they are complicated and they are simple to do via websockets, so if i feel the need to enable piping stuff up to realy, it will require a new route that upgrades to websocket to do this, most probably... or http/2 or something, idgaf, isn't what i already set it up to do, just wanted working import/export with nostr native auth for all admin
the`get` mode lets you issue commands via http path and parameters, nothing special has been implemented yet, no fancy swagger openapi bullcrap, and probably never will be, but it has proper security for authentication of the admin remote access of the features it already has
now i can move to doing the http API i dreamed up which i will be collaborating with some client devs in the future to integrate, because for simple queries and uploads, http is far less code and bullshit than having to also deal with sockets, and it makes it really easy for any standard web dev to build an app that talks to this API because it's not some kooky hybrid chimera big ball of mud

haha, i discovered that for whatever reason, the build running on my VPS is not using the libsecp256k1 bitcoin core signer library but instead is using the fallback btcec from btcd/decred shit
which revealed that it was mangling the pubkey, namely pruning off the first byte, which made it a 31 character key and it refuses to see my nip-98 auth to do an import/export... gonna fix this now, so those who disable CGO to build #realy don't encounter this bug
i really don't recommend not using the cgo but if you must, then i better make it work haha

yeah, that multipart form jazz, that's not what `curl -X POST -T filename <url>` does
i poked through the go stdlib http library comments and apparently there was some kind of bunfight around this shit that led to some certain things
keep in mind that this is the golang web server receiving it, so whatever retardations it has baked in i have to deal with
i don't really mind, piping from the stdin wasn't actually important at all, as soon as i saw it works when you read from a file just needed to tell it the file size, done, finished, i removed the pipe option because it doesn't come with a size information
it does, however, enable the use of a `$(sha256sum filename) in place of just the filename and it will conform to the nip-98 thing of giving the file hash as well, not that i'm enforcing it but it gives it

Ente is great. Also learned through the migration process that Apple juices up the storage you use on their devices compared to others. On my iPhone, I was supposedly using around 300-400 GB in photo/video storage, but after migrating, it's down to 77 GB. I would be inclined to think that that is due to some sort of compression or loss in quality on Ente's side, but that decrease seems too substantial and quality is still good. I do hate Apple though, so maybe I'm just fishing for conspiracies...

i've seen kittens once or twice go nuts being fed too much, a small young female grey fluffy thing she would guzzle her serving and then go after what her compatriot left behind (he often left behind some) and then after a week of this she finally overdid it and ralphed it all over the floor haha
and that was that, she stopped guzzling... smart animals
i think it was around 350g of meat, and he ate about half of it, and i haven't been able to entice him to eat any more of it, he is happily curled up sleeping off his giant lunch and i'm betting that he won't be hassling me real hard for breakfast

those rings are only for bulls, also, because it's one of the few ways you can get a lever on a fully mature adult male
so, it may look like a symbol of domestication, in fact it's an individual who is segregated for high class level domestication, ie, they are chosen to reign over the rest of the flock
so there may be some aspect of that in it, i never really thought much about it
the piercing is a very easy one to get wrong but for me i didn't even feel it, turns out i have a very thin skin part in the right spot and it was less painful than an ear piercing, i was stoked because several people i'd talked to about it who got it done said it was like being punched in the nose
i'm not gonna read into it any further than that tho, there's a real practical reason why they do it co bulls, and they do it because they are powerful
