There’s a leadership race right now. They will choose a new leader of his party. The new leader could be sworn in as prime minister if they secure the confidence of the house (a confidence vote needs to happen). If they don’t get the confidence, an election would be triggered. If the new leader secures the confidence they could also trigger an election, but they wouldn’t have to immediately.
Anyways, I doubt they’ll win the confidence vote.

𝕏 is busy battling censorship while Nostr just pretends the fight doesn’t exist.
Free speech isn’t magically won with protocols, it’s won by taking a stand.
tl;dr If Nostr wants to be more than a failed experiment, it needs solutions, not ideology.
𝕏 is where the free speech battle is actually happening. It has the scale, tools and leadership to resist the establishment.
So far, instead of achieving any sort of real-world impact, Nostr has served as some irrelevant notion of ideological purity.
Nostr isn’t solving censorship, it’s avoiding it. Free speech isn’t about running away; it’s about resisting, exposing, and overcoming suppression.
𝕏 is fighting that battle in the real world under direct fire while Nostr pretends that protocols alone protect speech.
Nostr advocates treat decentralization as an end rather than a tool. They act like an unmoderated protocol is a moral victory, ignoring that without filtering or defenses, it collapses into spam, bots, and noise.
If the result is unusable, ideological purity is meaningless.
Let's be clear: Nostr isn't free speech—it’s anarchy disguised as principle.
Let's be honest: beyond its small circle, no one is interested or sees it as practical.
The problem with Nostr isn’t just lack of adoption.
It can’t handle success.
Users will get a mess of relays, bots and garbage if meaningful adoption is ever achieved. Without centralized defenses, there’s no way to stop spam, Sybil attacks, etc. from reducing it to chaos.
Anyone hyping Nostr as a real alternative to 𝕏 ignores the biggest problem—it doesn’t solve information quality. Decentralization alone isn’t enough. A network overrun with bots and noise isn’t free speech, it’s just useless. Without filters, Nostr turns into a chaotic mess.
Normal people don’t want to micromanage their social experience.
They want a platform that just works, not a DIY censorship-resistance experiment that collapses under its own weight. Nostr’s reliance on users picking relays and muting bad actors renders it unworkable at scale.
𝕏, for all its flaws, is the best free speech tool that isn’t controlled by the state (since Jack Dorsey left).
𝕏 has massive engagement and discoverability and every user effectively serves as a moderator.
Nostr could find a niche as an alternative platform for those willing to put in the massive effort to curate their own experience. If developers find ways to manage spam and bots without centralization, it might become usable.
Nostr remains small precisely because it must remain small. At scale, it won't work, which is too bad because a censorship-resistant network should exist (even if it never rivals 𝕏). I hope it somehow succeeds.
At best, Nostr will serve as a backup, a place for anyone who values decentralization over usability.
Like it or not, 𝕏 is and will remain the free speech platform.
If Nostr wants to be more than a niche experiment, it needs real solutions, not just ideology.
Finally, whether intentional or not, Odell and others have pushed Nostr as being critical to the broader Bitcoin movement.
Don't let yourself be distracted and divided by self-righteous Nostr purists like him.
The only protocol to focus on is Bitcoin.

By what mechanism? The node has the XPRV secret and it is not propagated elsewhere. So, this is akin to having a hot wallet on your device and someone, knowing your password/passphrase, signing a transaction, and finalizing all without your knowledge.
"Issue with LND + Lightning" is almost certainly user error. Stay safe, route through Tor, only connect vetted lightning wallet applications to your node.

I tried asking Grok if it could create a 2024 calendar for me that had each square of the calendar day of the month have a background image that aligned with whatever image I posted with hashtag #BitcoinDayOfTheYear on X that day. Being that Grok is supposedly so smart and helpful, and since it's so tightly tied into X, I figured this would be an easy thing for it to do.
Nope. Grok said it does not have the ability to see images from posts on X. Bummer.
It gave a long list of steps that could I could take to do it myself, but I knew all that- I just don't have that kind of time to waste on something so menial like that. So until there is an AI capable of doing that sort of thing for me just for asking for it to be done, I'll just continue to try to generate one bitcoin image per day, post it like I have been with h/t #BitcoinDayOfTheYear.
I'm thinking it should be possible for me to develop a system that generates new #BitcoinDayOfTheYear images automatically each day, but that's just an idea at this point. Not much progress made on developing it yet. Eventually. That's the goal.

i am always writing tests because i very often mess things up and do a lot of encodings, but i haven't yet wrapped my head around this BDD style and other protocol correctness
to me part of the problems start before you even get to writing tests, with a protocol that is unclear or breaks domain boundaries or mixes concerns or creates ambiguities, especially ones that are likely to trigger a human to misunderstand even when the logs are printed out ad nauseum

Like it or not, there is no “Nostr needs to decide.” The decentralization and absence of significant capital investment gets in the way of any true leadership. I understand Jack’s reason for not wanting to be the “CEO” but a handful of developer grants isn’t going to cut it.

negentropy is a simple, fairly naive example of parts of a replication protocol, there is many other ways to do it, including broadcast/subscription models and an on-demand or pre-emptive caching model, there's garbage collection and geographical and affiinty group sharding as well, and taht's just *inside* the nostr protocol, the databases themselves can also run Paxos, Raft, or even pBFT or similar replication protocols while relays serve up data from these replicas

The mailing lists never died or lost their relevance.
Bitcoin Talk was weird. Kind of too captured and closed but trying to be open at the same time. Some things were allowed like ponzies run on Bitcoin but talks about block size or other coins not so much.
Reddit was moderated by the same team, so it suffered the same moderation issues but with less structure now. On Bitcoin Talk at least there were the different channels to keep people on topic. Bitcoin Reddit died for me due to the unmanageable flow of noobs asking the same questions a million times over dominating the sub.
Xitter and Nostr are more "social" than the others as you follow accounts and not a broad topic where idiots can spam you indiscriminately. But on Xitter you are at the mercy of Musk who already silenced all that don't want to pay and dox themselves.

i was aware of that, it's a somewhat temporary thing but it will get more frequent going forward
i just hope that enough people who understand tech and physics and chemistry and biology and stuff start to pay attention to this and actually work on survival strategies, because we gotta go underground, we gotta stop depending on electrical devices as our means to our food, we gotta stop being concentrated ind congested and psychologically toxic large cities

nuclear is great but it's not nearly as safe for warming your house or powering an ICE, we are far from being able to scale it down enough for this stuff, and even then it would only be possible to make use of it in the context of a purely chemical/mechanical device
and not only that, did i mention we have to have shelters underground? that one needs to be repeated repeatedly, with undue emphasis ideally these shelters have tin and carbon based shielding layers around them too because even quite deep underground X-rays and Gamma rays can get through quite a ways in most kinds of normal soils and stones
we have the tech we need, it just has gone mostly out of production, steam engines, furnaces, diesel engines that don't depend on sparks, and all the machines to acquire these resources, i mean, there's a lot...
