Information Systems in Soils
Some mycorrhizal hyphae (the filaments of the mycelium; think "tubes") can have relatively enormous internal diameters. Some are large enough to allow the flow of free RNA through the network. Ribonucleic Acid has the same information encoding capacity as DNA. That's quite a bit of potential information flowing around every cubic centimeter of soil.
It doesn't end there as whole viruses can traverse the fungal networks as well. The amount of information contained there is mammoth. Even whole fungal nuclei containing an average of 3.5 million base pairs (the A, G, T, Cs of DNA) can travel freely through the network. That's the amount of information that a 2,800 page book can hold.
These networks are huge, yet localized Internets of the planet. What would happen if all these networks connect?

Mycorhizzal networks can extend the reach of chemicals by providing a Superhighway through the soil.
Juglone in walnut trees is a toxic compound the trees use to kill competing plant life. The compound enters the soil from fallen leaves. In an experiment, it was found that juglone traveled much farther than normal due to its hitching a ride on the fungal highway. The compound stunted the growth of tomato plants at distances that should not allow such an event to occur.

Sure. I use multiple wallets. My zaps have been set to Strike, a custodial wallet, for 6 months because I got tired of my router going down and breaking my custom setup for non-custodial zaps. I still send zaps from my node. I receive zaps to Strike and withdrawal to my node when applicable.

I’m not sure there’s a way to avoid it. Sometimes it just happens. I’ve have a few over the years and I just roll with it and reopen if the channel was good.
My best advice is to try to know your channel partners so you can communicate with them if you have a problem. If your having trouble and know/can notify your channel partners, I find that they will more likely than not chill and give you time to correct the issue. I don’t have a channels with big corporate type nodes so I figure they wouldn’t care about your problems and fc if you stay off line very long.
