Damn my typos:
The correct version:
The difference between (Micro)Strategy's BTC and mine is if the price of Bitcoin goes down, but stays above my average purchase price, I have still made a profit, but that profit is not as much as it was.
(Micro)Strategy, however makes a loss.
Why?
Because my profit is absolute and I am not being forced to account for it on an artificial time scale (a quarter or annual report), but all companies have to report profit in time units that are not compatible with Bitcoin (quarters and years).
Bitcoin's clock is a 4 year time scale.
My Bitcoin clock is my average purchase price, which Bitcoin will never dip to again.

So no, I still don’t get it.
I’m going to ignore insolvency possibilities and accept the unsecured debt statement for the moment, but f you keep issuing shares, then your price exposure gets worse and it ends up being valueless. While NGU, great, but when it goes down, instead of making less profit, you make a loss and the company tanks.
We already saw a few quarters where $MSTR didn’t make a profit, because profit in a company is measured quarter by quarter and year by year and is dependent on growth.
Bitcoins profits are not dependent on growth. The Bitcoin I bought for $600 really doesn’t care whether the price is $50K or $100K, but if I put it in the form of a companies stock, then if the price goes from $100K to $50K, then I’ve made massive losses that period, even though I haven’t.
I get the argument that if you can’t buy BTC any other way then $STR gives you access to it, but your sharing your Bitcoin holdings with an ever increasing number of shareholders.
It’s behaving exactly like the government money printer we were supposed to be fixing.

Interesting. Truth is we can argue for or against any number of groups holding (and ideally using) bitcoin. However the permissionless nature of bitcoin allows anyone and everyone to buy, mine, hold and transact on the network. What is important is our understanding the implications; doing all we can to increase decentralisation at every level and supporting the permissionless ethos which is actually the basis of self-sovereignty

They both show a checkmark after my NIP-05 mike@mikehardcastle.com
How clients choose to show checkmarks varies and is not always obvious, but it's there across multiple clients for other npubs.
A possibility for you could be that if you live in a fire-walled country, or perhaps your ISP has filters in place, you may not be able to reach my website mikehardcastle.com which contains the verification file.

The Mona Lisa's value isn't just because it's scarce, but because it's unique and in demand. Similarly, Bitcoin's value is tied to its unique properties and the demand for those properties.

True true. But then again, keep in mind they have nothing to do with Bitcoin, probably think that it’s a scam or whatever

If I was an owner who is not interested in Bitcoin, I wouldn't want to buy a heater if current one works well, unless there is a real deal without much oprational overhead. I am here to bake bread, but not to bother myself with Bitcoins.

There should be an economic factor for them. Offer to buy a heater which is much more beautiful and fits well in their interiour in exchange for getting receiving sats from mining and free bread or pastries. Maybe you can take the old heater as well.

GM! Crazy idea here.
Taleb, who is a douche, wrote books with good ideas. One of those ideas is putting expiry date on systems. You know how a hospital starts with good care, but after 100 years it's the last place you'd want to be in? Fiat dynamics aside, such hospital should be taken down and started from scratch by new people.
Crazy idea? Expiry on npubs.
Instead of taking the Platform Media vibe of forever sculpting a "digital identity" or a profile, why not pull a complete 180 in it?
Temporary profiles. You use them and can't post after certain conditions are met, time being one. You start with another one. Another stab at your online presence. Let the system forget a bit.
Maybe this would take away some of the grandiousity people achieve and are in business of nurturing?
It's not a super thought through idea, mind you, just a seedling, maybe a bad one...
Tell me what you think. nostr:note194lm7jp9ln48sd7py96g2x2nnrc77daumyhgh8x7dn4raczwmnxqqw6vxm

A quick cost calculator would be handy. That calculator should incorporate all variables necessary, so the shop owner can estimate the total return on invest.
