Yeh, I hadn't appreciated how core the drive for decentralisation was, unless Adam is nursing history, which I don't think he is.
My understanding from listening to David Chaum and his critics (co-founders) is that DigiCash failed because he cared more about the principles than the success of DigiCash.
At peak it was even adopted by MicroSoft and a bank, but it was his stubbornness about technical issues that caused it to fail. I've heard him acknowledge that himself.

DigiCash, an early, pre-Internet monetary system failed primarily because it was centralised. This was an early lesson learned in future attempts to bootstrap a digital currency.

Although the last payment was technically made in 2006, by that stage, the payments were extremely trivial thanks to inflation.
Also, I think your confusing the British pound with the Euro and the dollar and while Britain was deeply affected by the crises, it in no ways led it or had any significant part to play in it.
In fact I remember the events well, as it was the first time I'd heard the words Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, which sounded like comedy names to me 😂

The root issue is not boning time but the economic situation and probably stress. People just dont make enough to be able to afford more kids. It doesn’t help that women don’t have much support from their husbands in terms of hands on help because they are always gone.

I haven’t heard of this but sounds entirely plausible. Japan has some of the worst employment conditions. Everything from working late to after work outings with other employees - it’s insane and leaves no time for family.
Sadly I don’t think it’ll change any time unless there are strict financial penalties for encouraging and continuing this behavior.

It was saved in notepad text file. I saw the password when I was going through documents I needed to backup before my wipe. I said oh that's not needed, that's for Alby Hub, the cloud version, not thinking I also needed for my local install. That hard drive was wiped tonight!
