Let's invert. If I don't like a Twitter interface and only use Olas.. "why doesnt Olas show everything my follows are doing?" Its just short notes anyway, right? You support notes, you should display blogs, calendar comments, highlight and their comments, live stream comments, torrent file comments, etc.
I hope you see that it doesn't make any sense for Olas to implement any of that.
Zapstore is a social app store. App stores already recommend apps. The only thing zap store does it to make recommendations based on what your friends are using. It's the perfect place for it. The recommendations are already there in any app store. They just never had a social network to base the recommendations on.

maybe that way I'll discover podcast XYZ that I had never heard of before
maybe I'll discover a new, broader dimension of who you are because you would have never thought of recommending podcast XYZ to me since you didn't know I was interested in its topic

the idea of going to an appstore to see what my friends are up to is completely unnatural to me.
The reason why I single out comments is because kind:1111 are already text notes, that people that I already follow are publishing, but my text-note nostr client doesn't show me because... what originated that comment was not a short note?

Yeah, but that is not unique to 1111. Anything your follows do with any other kind will not show up on kind1 clients. In fact, right now, more things don't show up than do show up.
That's why I think that is a feature for an App Store. The store itself needs to see what your friends are using (which kinds) and recommend clients that can see them.
This will never be solved by kind1 clients.

not with NIP-31 and NIP-89, particularly with the opengraph addition idea where you can do rich rendering of what the root is and, if it interests you, you are one click away from seeing the rich media wherever it can be.
right now, if you publish an article on substack it prompts you to share it on a tweet, on twitter, facebook, etc.
You post that tweet and that's it, the followers of the author might see it. Great.
Now, if a bunch of people that I follow are having a discussion in the "comment section" of the article I won't see it because they are kind:1111 K=30023, and because I don't follow the author I will never know that article, nor the conversation from people I follow, existed.

But tha's what I am saying. Kind1 clients shouldn't be the "visibility" clients. Otherwise all kind 1 clients need to implement every NIP. Which is just dumb.
Microblogging clients are definitely not browsers. And will never be.
There are lots of kinds that most kind1 clients don't display now and will never display.
Forcing them to do so seems like a good idea, but every user will be pissed by the resulting UX.

it's not about being a "reply to all", it's about visibility.
microblogging clients are browsers to people's short notes; the fact that the entry-point clients (microblogging) exclude all non-microblogging short notes brutally reduces the discoverability of everything else.
It means there's no feedback loop. It used to be that I could create a highlight of an article and, discussion around it would get organic distribution, or you publish a podcast and there's could be a discussion around it. If now that discussion can only be visible/known in the respective clients, those discussions will very quickly die off.
There's a reason why youtube/medium/substack comments massively suck.
There's no feedback loop, so people don't invest in making good, coherent points, maybe four people will see the comment, most likely the person that was the target of the comment (ie. reply to a reply) won't even see the response.
With nostr the data is all there, and we could choose to provide it visibility, to provide a wider view into activity and discussions regardless of the content-type that originated the discussion.

replies used to be kind:1s, which meant that they would have visibility throughout nostr by default, now that replies to non-kind:1s are kind:111, by default, they are no longer seen, excepts on apps that explicitly support that kind.
That's what I mean by "kind-siloes".
Before, if I read an article and replied to it, people that followed me would see my reply on primal/damus/coracle/etc -- if the client supported kind:30023 or at least NIP-31, the user could see the context of my reply right there; or, worst case, see my reply without the context but at least be aware they were missing something.
With kind:1111, people might follow me but not even see all this other activity in the other stuff that is happening, nor even be aware that there's this whole other bunch of experiences of nostr they haven't discovered.

The reason we need to be politically active is exactly because government can use Bitcoin itself as a way to gain/buy more power and use it to oppress more people on the long run.
Tech can only go so far. It can give you freedom but states can turn that same freedom tech into raw power... spending power. They just need to own enough.
And right now we are just letting it happen.
We need to see this through.
But the results are going to be obvious in hindsight.

Keypairs do not already function like groups. Relays do, which unlocks progressive enhancement — one part of which is adding a keypair so it can publish notes on its own behalf.
Keys do not make good groups, believe me, I tried it: https://github.com/nostr-protocol/nips/pull/706

Communities can switch relays by switching relays. It's the same as switching pubkeys would be, there has to be an authoritative identity. If that has to change, then it has to change. Pubkeys can't be censored by DNS, but they're harder to change. It's a trade-off, but communities need a host in any case, so it's easier to start there. Once you select a relay url, you can follow its pubkey to get updates on the relay's new location, then update your memberships from there.
I don't understand your second question. I don't know what a targeted publication is, but if it needs to be replaceable then model it that way.
Cross-posting doesn't have to be surfaced in the UX. Just create multiple events under the hood, like we do with DMs. When you DM someone, two events get published, but it only ever shows up as one message. Just have a button that says "post to x, y, z communities". Depending on how you do it, you might publish one event to multiple relays, a root event to your relay with three reposts with h tags, or just three copies of the event each with a different h tag. All three are legitimate approaches.

- holding bitcoin is using bitcoin
- good money can be saved or spent without permission, bitcoin serves both use cases well
- bitcoin is incredibly difficult to change, fundamental to its value, feature not a bug

What about with the federation stuff and alternative URLs? A relay could keep its canonical url, but still be available on alternate domains (or even transports). The relay could also advertise active replication of content with another, entirely separate relay.

Haha if between those 2, it's the latter.
But I'm usually not all of these things at once, I switch between them as the mood strikes.
Though I do mix 'em up where possible:

that's fine. it needs to become a store of value before it becomes a medium of exchange. once the price stabalizes more, we'll see it used more, imo.
