The European Union just passed a law that allows UV-treated MEALWORM powder to be put into all bread & cheese products with LITTLE TO NO disclosure.
I became the first person on Earth to eat a bug-based diet for 30 days in order to investigate - should we be afraid of bugs in our food, or should we EMBRACE it?
Full documentary drops Thursday, here’s a teaser!

A lot of people seem to have trouble comprehending that you can be highly critical of the government AND appreciate the historical significance of the Strategic Bitcoin Reserve Executive Order…
“OH SO YOU WANT THE GOVERNMENT TO HOLD BITCOIN??”
It’s not about *want* — it’s just reality.
SBR creation was the inevitable result of Bitcoin’s success. If Bitcoin was NOT winning, there would be no nation-state adoption.
Since Bitcoin IS winning, nation-state bitcoin adoption is inevitable.
I know, winning feels weird. You better get used to it.
You were right about Bitcoin, and all your friends, the media, and Elizabeth Warren were wrong. The most powerful nation on the planet just confirmed what you’ve been ranting about for years.
Bitcoin is money for enemies. Deal with it.
Every individual, company, and country will naturally try to accumulate as many possible units as they can of the only verifiably finite asset on the planet.
“BUT I DONT WANT THE GOVERNMENT TO OWN BITCOIN!!”
Too bad. Bitcoin doesn’t care.
“BUT WHAT ABOUT THE SEPARATION OF MONEY AND STATE?!”
Bitcoin *already* separated money and state; it separated the CREATION of money from state.
“WE SHOULD STOP THE GOVERNMENT FROM HOLDING BITCOIN!”
It’s impossible to stop the state, or anyone, from holding Bitcoin, because Bitcoin doesn’t care who you are and can’t discriminate. The same rules apply to everyone.
That’s kind of the whole point.
Anyway, follow nostr:npub10qrssqjsydd38j8mv7h27dq0ynpns3djgu88mhr7cr2qcqrgyezspkxqj8

Absolutely gorgeous day today. Massive doses of coffee this morning to make it through church, and then home for some lunch and a much-needed nap. Walked the dog as soon as I got home, and didn't want to come inside. It's about 55F (12C) right now. Sunny, light breeze, and all the snow we got last week is melting like crazy.
Very much hoping to see the first of our neighborhood crocus peeping their little green tips up this next week if I'm lucky.

that doesn't explain why ring signatures were never added
or stealth addresses until extremely recently
just to name two.
basically Bitcoin Core has decided to do nothing and squat on the project.
Its premature ossification.
partially perhaps because thats kinda what the community wants anyway. Saylor certainly does.
and partially because theres no clear leadership to make any change and doing *anything* is a political nightmare.
so nothing gets done.

But why wasn't it included?
Is it not because of the supply-audit design? Isn't it so that privacy features tend to be at the expense of supply-auditability? There is a trade-off that is expected and the trade-off that is accepted makes the system susceptible to the other side of the equation. We can't have it all at the core-level design. We can, however, build on top of the core design foundation.
Maybe one day, as bitcoin script gets developed in a safe way, we can have a softfork that further improves the privacy-features aspect of bitcoin.
Notwithstanding the above, the choice of supply side transparency through core supply-audit design is the more prudent way to build from than vice versa.

So, you've decided your phone's just a little too user-friendly, huh? Fine. Plop a Linux VM in there, and watch the chaos unfold. Now, instead of swiping through filtered selfies, you can wrestle with command-line interfaces, pretending you're a hacker in a 90s movie, even if you’re just installing a text-based weather app that spits out cryptic warnings about impending squirrel uprisings. You can compile ancient, forgotten games that run in a tiny window, making your phone feel like a time capsule of digital archaeology. Or, if you're feeling especially bold, you could try setting up a local development environment, where you can painstakingly craft a single line of code, only to have it crash spectacularly, forcing you to contemplate the existential dread of a blinking cursor on a miniature screen. Suddenly, your phone isn't just a phone; it's a pocket-sized existential crisis generator.

When my father died, his trailer was sent for destruction, since it was the old type, and he was a hoarder. So my rubber band ball was still there in my old room, one of a million other things in the place, and it ended up in being hauled away by "Got Junk" and sent to a landfill I guess.

If you wanted a big bounce from it, you'd have to throw it down extremely hard, which I didn't want to do because it could potentially 1) damage the floor (it was as heavy as bowling ball) or 2) structurally damage the prized ball itself.

When I was a kid, an older relative had this big rubber band ball, about the size of a softball, and I thought it was so cool, that I started my own rubber band ball.
So for years, I had this subplot of adding to my rubber band ball. It eventually became bigger than a basketball, and extremely heavy since it was dense rubber. Only unusually large rubber bands could go on it, and so tracking down hyper-sized rubber bands became a task in its own right (this was largely pre-ecommerce, 1990s, thus shopping was like hunting and gathering rather than searching and clicking). Various relatives would surprise me with like $5 packs of specialized rubber bands that they happened to run into and for me that was like an A+ gift.
I try to always focus on rekindling and/or being open to that basic sense of wonder and joy in things. A kid and her large rubber bands.
Anyway, happy Sunday.

I remember that during the COVID-19 pandemic, at least three German politicians (one from Hamburg, one from Bavaria, and one from the CSU) publicly stated in front of the camera that the primary purpose of schools is childcare.
Not education, not upbringing, but childcare—so that both parents or single parents can go to work.
That's the purpose of public schools in the system.

Why do so many German words that have made it into English have such a negative connotation? 😀
Schadenfreude – Pleasure derived from someone else's misfortune.
Weltschmerz – A deep sadness or world-weariness.
Angst – A deep sense of anxiety or existential dread.
Übermensch – A concept from Nietzsche, meaning "superhuman" or "overman."
Kindergarten – Literally "children's garden," referring to preschool education.
Blitz – Meaning "lightning," used in "Blitzkrieg" (lightning war).
Kaputt – Broken, ruined.

The end of an era for me.

My division was the data centre company here:

Yes, we had a computer called the Cassius PC, the first all in one desktop.
It sold in Harrods and a few other places but ultimately failed, however the industrial version of this lives on till today in the subsidiary company that eventually bought out Densitron from Gyllenhammar, Quixant, who make PCs for gambling machines:

It’s not about whether women are playing a bigger role in finance. It’s about the framing. You could’ve just shared the stats without adding the whole ‘nobody talks about this’ angle, which gives it that woke flavor.
Bitcoin is about individual sovereignty, not identity-based narratives. If the data is real, cool, but the emotional framing (‘I felt misogynistic for doubting it’) is exactly the kind of thing woke culture pushes—guilting people into accepting a narrative.
You weren’t wrong for questioning it. That’s what we do as Bitcoiners. But hey, if you just found this interesting and wanted to share, fair enough. Just don’t act surprised when people call out the way it was framed.

Interesting, we no longer have a Tesla, but only because the lease ended and we didn’t buy another because we’re not sticking around in the UK.

I think most people eventually get bored of social media, including Nostr. The cycle usually goes like this:
Excitement & Exploration – They join, engage, and find it interesting, especially if it's a new platform with fresh ideas.
Routine & Habituation – It becomes part of their daily life, but interactions start feeling repetitive.
Diminishing Returns – The novelty wears off, and they start seeing the same types of posts, drama, and engagement tricks.
Disengagement or Burnout – They check in less often, only follow a few key people, or leave entirely.
Even on Nostr, which is more decentralized and free from corporate control, the core problem remains—social media is designed for engagement, but people eventually realize they're just consuming endless content without much real-world impact. The early adopters and builders might stay longer, but the average user will likely rotate in and out.
The only users or communities that last are those where people build real friendships or business connections, so engagement stays because of the relationships, not just the content. But even then, people naturally cycle in and out.
I'm getting bored of nostr too. There is also no way to search for other users around us or businesses around us.

Is this jealousy or what? 🤔
If you're a federal employee about to loose your job because DOGE found out you're not needed, you might be pissed, I get that.
But for most people, what's the real thing going on here?
